Bitcoin Company Sponsors Judo Open

The bitLanders platform was Founded by current CEO, F​rancesco R​ulli. Rulli was also the driving force behind a similar project, Film Annex – a web TV Network that allowed filmmakers to create and share their content.

Bitcoin drew Rulli’s attention in 2014, while he was working on Film Annex. Attracted by the digital currencies low friction and global reach he implemented Bitcoin as a method for paying content creators.

Later that year Rulli launched bitLanders, a further step into the Bitcoin industry. BitLanders focuses on merging social media with film makers and bloggers, and builds on Rulli’s experience running Film Annex. The bitLanders team describes their platform as a ‘new way to be social,’ and rewards people for their content.

The bitLanders platform recognises that a user’s content is of value to media companies, brands and publishers. To reward users for their content Bitcoin provides an ideal payment channel. As a recent company announcement explains, “bitLanders users are rewarded in Bitcoin, the underlying currency of the platform. These Bitcoin rewards can be exchanged within the curated shopping section for gift cards, avatar accessories, or be donated to charities.”

The bitLanders proprietary BuzzScore system rates a users profile based on three core components; The quality of the content, how much the content is shared, and how many subscriptions there are from other high ranking users.

According to Rulli the funds generated to pay for content comes solely from advertising. bitLanders receives payments in US Dollars and immediately converts them to Bitcoin. The funds are kept in cold storage and distributed among users, using the BuzzScore algorithm.

Not only does bitLanders pay their users, but they also support events, “the New York Judo Open will be the only international sports competition to reward its athletes in Bitcoin, a peer-to-peer payment system and digital currency. bitLanders will award the prize money in Bitcoin for the equivalent of $100 for every Ippon (Judo knock-out) scored in the Women’s Team competition. The Most Valuable Player will also receive the bitLanders Bitcoin Judo Cup,” bitLanders announced in a recent press release.

This is a sport close to Rulli’s heart, as he has a black belt in Judo himself. "Judo was my school in life, a great Olympic sport that can empower people to face hurdles and surpass any difficulty. This is why Female Olympic champions attending the NY Open are great inspiration for the Superhero project launched by Women’s Annex Foundation."

According to the press release, the judo event will be presented to the bitLanders audience of 500,000 registered users – and by extension, their network of 125 million fans and friends. In addition the footage and photographs will be distributed on Film Annex and Judo Arts. Social media will also be utilised to give the bitLanders sponsored event additional coverage.
