Bitcoin South 2014

Bitcoin South, NZ's First Bitcoin Conference, concluded over the 29th and 30th of November and attracted some of the best speakers in Bitcoin for two days of inspirational, thought-provoking and educational talks.
Imagine a conference so good that 100% of attendees are at the session on the morning of the second day. I’ve never seen that before. But that’s what what happened at Bitcoin-South the first Bitcoin conference in New Zealand.
The reason is obvious to anyone there. The conference was beautifully organized, packed with wonderful speakers and presentations, and featured a lively social ambiance throughout.
There was a coherent path that the lectures took in terms of content. We started with the big picture, did an overview of Bitcoin, moved into current commercial applications, introduced 2.0 technologies, did a walk through new innovations like multi-sig, covered issues of privacy and regulation, discussed the political implications, received a thorough look at mining, and ended with issues of art, tipping, and marketing.
Every lecture was well prepared and beautifully delivered. I personally came away with vast new knowledge and excellent intellectual challenges that are going to keep my mind working hard for many months. I’m so excited that the presentations are going online because I want to see many of them again.
There was also a beautiful social camaraderie that developed over the course of the days. As for the setting in Queenstown, New Zealand, there are not words to describe its magnificence. There was so much to see, even just outside the hotel front door. This is a country that seems to have been created by CGI.
My special thanks to Fran Strajnar & Chris Raos from F.A.S.T. Interactive Ltd, and the sponsors, Bitto, BraveNewCoin, Bitcoin.info, Genesis-Mining and Coinex for sponsoring and making possible such a classy and super intelligent event. Bitcoin-South has made a mighty contribution to the progress of cryptocurrency.
The links to the talks on this page will be live as soon as we finish editing each one over the next couple of days – so check back for more content – BNC Staff.
