Tip Content Providers Directly on BitTube

Youtube is a wonderful service, there’s no denying that. Over the past few years it has slowly seen the rise of advertisements which can be annoying at best. These ads fuel the company and in return for opting to show them content providers receive a small cut of the ad revenue. BitTube.TV is looking to change this system with direct cryptocurrency tipping, which puts more money in the pockets of content creators.

Another site that attempted to use cryptocurrency to directly fund content creators was WatchMyBit, which has dwindled in activity since its release. Rather than allowing users to choose whether or not to tip, WatchMyBit allowed users to require payment prior to viewing videos. It would appear that users prefer to have choice when it comes to monetized content.

The service is currently very young, having just been unveiled May 1st. Those wishing to upload a video can create an account and then link their bitcoin, litecoin, and dogecoin wallets when prompted. Uploading a video is an easy few button clicks away. Each video has it’s own wallets for storing funds until payout. “We work with Block.IO to hold funds, and payouts are currently hourly,” Normore explains. This is another improvement upon traditional systems, who typically have much longer payout windows.

Normore also has a cryptocurrency-based take on Twitch called BitGamer.tv, and though it has seen moderate success since it’s launch BitTube has far surpassed it in a fraction of the time. Normore is understandably excited to such comparable growth – “It is my honor to be even this successful so far in producing such change, and [I] will continue to push this technology in the future.” The site is already slated for a variety of feature additions which should only strengthen the support.

To facilitate the platform’s success a list of new additions is around the corner, up first is a subscription feature. This is critical for viewers to be able to follow their favorite content producers. Also coming in the immediate future is a ‘best of’ section, drawing attention to popular videos of the day.

Normore has plenty more solid ideas to drive both creator and viewer traffic to the site. “Some time next week I will publish a new system which will pay each video a set amount of BTC, LTC or DOGE (chosen randomly) based on the new number of views it has had in the last hour,” Normore went on to describe. “We’re currently looking at $0.01 USD per 10 views.”

We went on to speak about the source of his motivation, “I am a young entrepreneur about to become a father,” Normore says. Promoting cryptocurrency through useful services is his way of furthering mass adoption and overall support, which may help the future of finance as we know it. “[Bitcoin] is the evolution of currency – and all things are evolving so rapidly.”

Passion is always a good thing to see behind refreshing ideas. BitTube is a simple idea that could easily help spread knowledge of cryptocurrency after it gains strength through improved features. It is exciting to see both content creators and viewers have more control over where their money is going, and it certainly is engaging to do so without seeing advertisements all over the place.
