Japanese arrests over stolen NEM from Coincheck hack
The Metropolitan Police Department arrested two men on suspicion of illegally exchanging XEM into another virtual currency. It is alleged that the men received approximately 24 million XEM over the dark web from the hacker who stole NEM from Coincheck, Japan’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.
Major Japanese crypto exchange Coincheck to add Stellar Lumens (XLM)
Coincheck announced that it will list the cryptocurrency Stellar Lumens (XLM) from November 12, 2019. The exchange will be the first to list XLM in Japan.

Local government using bitcoin to promote tourism in Japan
With the help of Bitcoin exchange and payment processor Coincheck, the festival and City of Hirosaki are officially accepting bitcoin donations as part of their Cherry Blossom Festival this week. "This will be the first attempt for both a Bitcoin company and a local government in Japan," Coincheck states.
